Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

The word heaven is used over 500 times in the Bible. Many of those references are about the sky and the area above the earth, but not all of them. Some speak to another kingdom, a place where God resides. Streets of gold, gates of pearl, walls of jasper, and mansions built with each of us in mind are part of its design.
John 14:1-3
1) “Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
2) In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for
I go to prepare a place for you.
3) If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where
I am, there you may be also.”

Jesus is preparing a place for us. From the beginning of creation to now, God has been working to bring us back into relationship with him. We have a home with God in heaven, and although we have no idea what it looks like, we can trust God to bring us to it.
Acts 1:9-11
9) And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud
received Him out of their sight.
10) And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white
clothing stood beside them.
11) They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has
been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched
Him go into heaven.”

Revelation 21:1-4
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
